Major TUI flight expansion set for 2020

Major TUI flight expansion set for 2020 - C&M Travel Recruitment
New flight destinations and frequencies will be added at 13 regional airports next summer as a result of TUI's expansion, it has been announced.

Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham and Doncaster airports will see the majority of the additions while other UK bases to benefit include Belfast, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Bournemouth, Cardiff, Norwich, East Midlands and Stansted.

The news follows the announcement that the airline is adding two million seats to create its biggest ever holiday programme, in a move that could lead to the creation of multiple new jobs in travel.

An extra 440,000 seats will be available from Manchester next year including on flights to Orlando Sanford, Cancun and Punta Cana among others.

Bristol will see new routes to Girona and Almeria as part of its 266,000 extra seats, while Birmingham's additional 194,000 seats will give locals the chance to fly to new destinations such as Almeria and Split.

Customers at Doncaster Sheffield Airport will also see new routes in the form of Fuerteventura and Heraklion as part of its 136,000 extra capacity.

Commenting about the news, Karen Switzer, Director of Aviation Planning at the carrier, said: "Earlier this month TUI announced an additional two million seats to many holiday destination favourites and today the majority of these seats go on sale for summer 2020. We are delighted that our new additions launched today provide holidaymakers departing from our regional airports with even more choice when deciding where to go next summer on holiday.

"The customer is at the heart of everything we do and this additional growth to some of our customer's favourite holiday hotspots demonstrates our continued commitment for people to discover their smile with us."

Elsewhere, official figures released earlier this month showed that the UK jobs market could be cooling after an unexpected rise in the unemployment rate.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said that number of people in work fell by 56,000 against expectations of a 26,000 dip, leaving an unemployment rate of 3.9 per cent.
