- Small falls in new jobseekers, vacancies and placements
Slower month for recruitment
There was a small drop in the number of new candidates searching for jobs in the travel industry last month, according to the latest figures from C&M Travel Recruitment. June saw a seven per cent fall from May and a four per cent dip from June 2024.
Similarly, there was a 12 per cent monthly decrease in the availability of new travel jobs in June, as well as a 21 per cent fall compared to the same month last year.
Completing the picture, the number of candidates being placed in new travel jobs also fell back in June by 15 per cent from the previous month and by four per cent from June 2024.
Speaking about the stats, Barbara Kolosinska, Co-Owner and Managing Director at C&M Travel Recruitment, said: "These clearly aren't the kind of figures that we – and the rest of the travel industry – would like to see. But the warm weather and the start of the summer season seems to have impacted the recruitment market, with many candidates and decision makers opting to enjoy the sun and delay their hiring plans.
"With school holidays on the way, we are unlikely to see a big increase in activity before September, but this does mean that there are now real opportunities for candidates to secure great travel positions this summer before competition gets much tougher in the autumn."
