Travel job placements hit decade-plus high
More candidates were placed in new travel jobs last month than at any point in at least the last decade, according to the latest figures from C&M Travel Recruitment.
March 2022's total number of new travel placements was the highest seen since C&M's reports began in January 2012 and was up by 22 per cent from September 2016 - the index's previous record number.
Last month's total was up by 79 per cent from February 2022, up by 679 per cent from March 2021 and up by 51 per cent from the pre-pandemic month of March 2019. More travel placements were made in March 2022 than in the previous two months of the year combined.
Record month for travel recruitment
It was also a record month for new travel job vacancies which jumped to their highest level ever seen on the index.
March 2022's total number of new travel vacancies was easily the highest seen in the past decade and was up by a huge 71 per cent from January 2017 – the previous record month.
What’s more, last month's figure was up by 173 per cent from February 2022 and up by 103 per cent from the previous post-pandemic best in January 2022.
Candidate volumes also reach 8-month high
While not increasing at the same pace as placements or vacancies, more new candidates registered for travel jobs in March than at any point since last July, with last month's total rising by 14 per cent from February. March 2022's figure was also up by 75 per cent from March 2021, up by 31 per cent from March 2020 and up by 25 per cent from the pre-pandemic month of March 2019.
Speaking about the stats, Barbara Kolosinska, Managing Director at C&M Travel Recruitment, said: "We've never seen a month like March! We've been recruiting for the travel industry since 1998 and we have never been busier – the industry is currently recruiting on a scale unlike anything we have ever seen before.
"This is due to a combination of reasons – a number of big travel companies are newly looking to recruit again, the business travel market is finally making a real comeback with a major recruitment drive under way, while many other travel companies simply need to take on extra employees to cope with increased demand from customers.
"It goes without saying that there are some absolutely fantastic roles out there, with some businesses offering terrific packages to secure the best talent. We know that there is still a shortage of experienced travel candidates looking to change roles at the moment, but there has truly never been a better time to re-enter the market and consider the abundance of wonderful opportunities currently available."
All figures are drawn from the month’s new vacancies advertised with C&M Travel Recruitment.
C&M Travel Recruitment was established in 1998 and is the largest and most successful specialist travel recruitment company in the UK.
