30 Under 30: Rob Grover - C&MIn collaboration with TTG Digital, the ITT and Guoman Hotels, C&M Travel Recruitment set out to discover the 30 most inspiring and dynamic people in the travel industry aged 30 years and younger - the 30 Under 30.

Here we profile Rob Grover, sales manager UK at Expedia TAAP.

Q: What advice do you have for other young people looking to make their mark in the travel industry?

A: "I would say to just put everything into what you do. Be energetic and make sure that you are always able to make yourself stand out. It sounds like a cliché, but always put that extra mile in because it really does go a long way; it helps to get yourself recognised. If you are enthusiastic and passionate, then people buy into that. They can understand how passionate you are and it will encourage them to want to work with you.

"Also, because the travel industry is relatively small and everybody knows each other to a degree, it is important to get out there to social events. When you do, really make that extra bit of effort to try and speak to as many people as possible and be a nice person. That will go a long way because one of the reasons I was put forward for my job was through having known somebody for quite a while in my previous role. I had made sure that she was always satisfied in what we were doing, so it does certainly pay off in the long-term."

Q: Why did you want to get involved in the travel industry?

A: "I didn't really intend to get into the travel industry. The first job I got offered was for a travel trade magazine and I worked there for almost four years and went to Expedia after that. I really enjoyed it and I liked the industry enough to want to carry on."

Q: How does it feel to be in the final 30 of Tomorrow's Travel Leaders?

A: "I was really pleased - really pleased. It was something that I was keen to do, as I knew that you could certainly get a lot out of it and it was a good indication that you are on the right path. It is like a pat on the back and it has certainly brought a lot of opportunities to me, so I am very grateful for that."

Q: Have you taken away new skills and contacts from the Tomorrow's Travel Leaders events and speeches?

A: "I thoroughly enjoyed the event that I was able to attend and I hope to be able to get to the remainder of them. I have made some good contacts - both professionally and personally."
