Tomorrow's Travel Leaders: 30 Under 30: Jodie Edwards
In collaboration with TTG Digital, the ITT and Guoman Hotels, C&M Travel Recruitment set out to discover the 30 most inspiring and dynamic people in the travel industry aged 30 years and younger - the 30 Under 30.
Here we profile Jodie Edwards, operations manager at Travel By Appointment.
Q: What advice do you have for other young people looking to succeed in the travel industry?
A: "Work as hard as you can and have fun whilst doing it. Choose a company that has the potential to help you grow your career and network across the industry with things like the Tomorrow's Travel Leaders initiative to open up doors for your future."
Q: Why did you want to get involved in the travel industry?
A: "After having done work experience in Going Places when I was 15, I enjoyed the customer interactions and helping people find their dream holidays. It can be quite satisfying to know you've found them a great deal and somewhere they will enjoy.
"After being at Lunn Poly for three and a half years, I was ready for a change from leisure and moved into business travel. This provided a whole new challenge. Business travellers are so much more time constrained and need a lot more options and things are faster paced, so it's a new kind of challenge."
Q: How does it feel to be in the final 30 of Tomorrow's Travel Leaders?
A: "I feel really happy to have been included in the final 30. I've had a really successful career in travel and hope for it to continue! The initiative is a great thing which I think should continue and be run again, as it's great for different people from varying parts of the industry to interact."
Q: Has the recognition had any impact on your career?
A: "I seem to have been recognised more via social media sites such as LinkedIn and have made friends in the industry in other sectors than I usually deal with, so it's all good news."
