Tomorrow's Travel Leaders: 30 Under 30: Jill Tracey
In collaboration with TTG Digital, the ITT and Guoman Hotels, C&M Travel Recruitment set out to discover the 30 most inspiring and dynamic people in the travel industry aged 30 years and younger - the 30 Under 30.
Here we profile Jill Tracey, partnership relations supervisor at Norwegian Cruise Line.
Q: What advice do you have for other young people looking to make their mark in the travel industry?
A: "My main advice would be never say no to opportunities or challenges that are offered to you. They may test you and be something you've never done before, but it's a great way to learn, and when you get to the end, you'll gain the confidence to carry you forward onto the next challenge!"
Q: Why did you want to get involved in the travel industry?
A: "I really came into the travel industry by chance, and actually spent the first years of my career in the DIY sector - quite a different industry to travel!
"However, having worked in my parents' tourism business during my teens and studied languages as my degree, travel and tourism was always a passion of mine. When the opportunity came up to join Norwegian Cruise Line, I jumped at the chance and haven't looked back."
Q: How does it feel to be in the final 30 of Tomorrow's Travel Leaders?
A: "It is a huge privilege to be part of the Tomorrow's Travel Leaders group. Looking around the room at our first meeting all together, I felt very fortunate to have the opportunity to meet such an interesting, inspiring group of people - and very proud to be amongst them.
"It was a huge and very nice surprise to be nominated. It meant a lot to me that somebody within in the industry thought enough of me to recognise me in this way."
Q: Has the recognition had any impact on your career?
A: "I feel that being part of Tomorrow's Travel Leaders has certainly raised my profile within the industry, and given me a fantastic opportunity to make new contacts in all areas of the travel industry. I think it's a really positive move to recognise people who aren't the faces you always see in the travel trade media, but who are making an impact in their roles and businesses."
