Young Brits 'look to travel agents'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.Young people are the most likely group of holidaymakers to book a vacation via a travel agent, it has been reported.
In research carried out by Ipsos Mori on behalf of the Association of British Travel Agents, it was revealed that some 45 per cent of Britons between the ages of 16 and 24 claim to have booked their last holiday through such a travel professional.
Meanwhile, some 50 per cent of those in this demographic state they would purchase a future holiday with a travel agent - whether this is online, face-to-face or in person.
Overall, 35 per cent of Britons were shown to book with a travel agent, while 16 per cent choose to go with a tour operator.
In news that might also interest those with jobs in the travel industry, people from the Greater London region are said to be the most likely to book a holiday over the internet.
Meanwhile, Simon Ferguson, publishing director of the TW Group, recently claimed that the economic downturn means it is crucial for travel agents to be knowledgeable and to offer high levels of customer service.
