UK a 'cool destination'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.Great Britain is becoming an increasingly attractive destination.
Such is the claim of Russell Amerasekera, a travel journalist, who states that the country has "become cool" over recent years.
And in comments that could be of interest to those with jobs in the travel industry, he reports that major British cities - such as Manchester, London and Birmingham - are among the best in the world in terms of the shopping facilities, restaurants, nightlife and culture which is on offer.
He said: "The major cities in the UK really do stack up against anything that you will get in any other major cities in the world."
And despite many Britons often taking a negative view of their own country, Mr Amerasekera claimed that now is the time to start "standing up for the UK".
The journalist's comments come after research carried out by VisitBirmingham showed that more than a fifth of women view shopping as an essential part to the "perfect" weekend.
