Travellers 'increasingly opting for America'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.In news which could be of interest to individuals looking for employment in travel, it has been revealed that UK travellers are increasingly opting to visit the US due to the current favourable exchange rate.
Julian Neal, global marketing director for Travelex retail, said that more people are choosing to travel to countries which show a good exchange rate against the pound at present.
He added: "We are not necessarily seeing any signs showing that people are less likely to go to the eurozone but we are seeing people saying they are more likely to go to America."
He noted that currencies which have seen a good return in recent months include the Turkish lira and South African rand.
Research carried out by Travelex has found that consumers are now more likely to purchase their foreign currency online to take advantage of the best deals.
In the last quarter, the company saw a 35 per cent rise in online currency sales in comparison to the same period last year.
