Rabat 'popular with walkers'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs. The Moroccan city of Rabat is very popular for walking activities, it has been claimed by one sector commentator.
Britons seeking tour operator jobs in the region may be interested to know that Peter Sheard, senior associate at Gensler, also noted that the city was very beautiful.
However, speaking at the recent Waterfront Expo conference in Liverpool, he claimed that Rabat was "hostile" when it came to its weather.
"The city has quite a strong network of parks and open spaces and the landscape has a certain beauty about it," Mr Sheard explained.
He noted that as well as walking activities visitors also found its fishing facilities popular.
Morocco's Ministry of Tourism reported that there were 7.41 million visitors to the country in 2007 - up 13 per cent from the previous year's 6.56 million.
It was also stated that Rabat's hotel capacity stood at 4,812 people in 2007 - up five per cent from the previous year - and that there were 338,000 UK visitors to Morocco in the same period.
