Public transport 'effective for domestic travel'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.Public transport is an effective and enjoyable means by which to go on holiday.
Such is the assertion of Cat Hobbs, public transport campaigner for the Campaign for Better Transport, who claims that going on holiday by plane can prove to be a stressful experience for consumers due to the problems which can be caused by flight delays and lost luggage.
Ms Hobbs said: "In any case there are lots of lovely places that people can explore on holiday right here in the UK."
And in news that might be of interest to those with jobs in the travel industry, the public transport campaigner claimed that opting to go away by train instead of plane is a more environmentally-friendly choice as the former produces about an eighth of the carbon emissions as the latter.
Meanwhile, figures released through the Public Transport Statistics Bulletin showed that passenger journeys on trams and light rail systems across England were up by 4.3 per cent this year, in comparison to 2007.
