Popularity of domestic travel 'on the rise'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.London is top of the pops for British travellers, a new study shows.
In research carried out by Pricerunner, it was revealed that the UK capital is the most popular city throughout Europe for Brits.
Manchester, Edinburgh and Birmingham were also said to be sought-after locations for domestic travellers, with a quarter of the 20 most popular European destinations located within Britain.
UK cities were said to prove particularly popular because of the poor exchange rate on the euro, with about half of Brits said to be favouring destinations such as Copenhagen and Dalaman - which are outside of the eurozone.
Commenting on the figures, Mattias Berg, managing director of Pricerunner, said: "With the poor exchange rate on the euro we're seeing an increase in the popularity of travel within the UK or [at] least outside of the eurozone."
