Off to darkest Peru
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs. When a small bear turned up lost at Paddington train station he claimed to have come from "darkest Peru", but the popularity of the South American country is increasingly putting it on the map for Britons, it has been claimed.
A spokesperson for the Association of Independent Tour Operators noted that if a trip to Peru was planned correctly it could still prove to be not too costly for the holidaymaker, which may interest those seeking travel careers.
He explained that touristy destinations were now proving popular with Britons as they felt they would get more value there for their money.
"The Inka trail in Peru is hugely popular for foreign people and it's something people have talked about and maybe read about, which makes it attractive," the representative concluded.
A recent report by Opodo revealed that Peru was now the most up-and-coming destination people hoped to visit next year, with bookings for holidays in the country increasing by 98 per cent since 2007.
