NY shopping 'may override environmental concerns'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs. With Christmas looming, it was recently reported by Lonely Planet that many Britons are keen to jet off to the New York to carry out their festive shopping in style, something that those with travel and tourism jobs may already have experienced.
However, when it comes to the environmental concerns of taking the long-haul flight, Tom Hall, travel editor of the series, said this was unlikely to put people off.
He noted that Britons were aware of the environmental impact of flying, but it was unclear as to the extent this influenced their decisions when it came to holiday plans.
"The temptation of busting out of the gloom that surrounds them at the moment and going and living it up in New York for a few days, might override other concerns," Mr Hall concluded.
According to the 2008 Post Office Travel Services Christmas Shopping Guide, the best savings to be made in the Big Apple are on high fashion items like designer jeans and hooded sweatshirts.
