More over-55s staying in Blighty
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.More over-55s travellers are opting to stay in the UK for their summer holiday this year, it has been suggested.
Rather than heading abroad it appears that an increased number of older travellers are making last-minute vacation bookings in this country according to Grand UK Holidays, Travel Mole reports.
For those who may be interested in coming to the UK travel market, sales director Harold Burke suggested that the increase in domestic holidays may be caused by people not wishing to face long queues at airports or keep up with conversion costs or they may have environmental concerns about flying.
"We're finding people are making spur-of-the-minute decisions to head off for a holiday," he added.
In related news, a report released by the UK Film Council last year revealed that films such as Gosford Park, Pride and Prejudice and Harry Potter had boosted the UK tourism market, as film tourism enticed people to visit the set of their favourite flick.
