Luxury travel sector 'staying strong'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs. Those with jobs in the luxury travel industry are continuing trade as normal despite the financial difficulties being felt in the economy as a whole, it has been reported.
According to Alyson Cook, editor of Luxury Travel Magazine, there is still a demand for foreign breaks from high-end travellers.
She said: "We did some research at the beginning of the year with our readers - who are the upmarket travel agents and premium tour operators - all of them were saying their prediction for 2008 was very much business as usual."
It was claimed that the clients of such travel agents and tour operators are "immune" to the financial uncertainty currently being experienced by many other people.
Furthermore, it was reported that although such consumers are "cash rich" they are "time poor" which makes the annual fortnight away with the family increasingly important for them.
Popular destinations for high-end travellers were shown to include numerous Caribbean islands including Barbados and Jamaica.
Meanwhile, a recent study by the International Luxury Travel Market revealed that China, Russia and India are emerging locations for such high-end tourists.
