Holidays 'are vital for Britons'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.Going on holiday is viewed as a crucial element to Britons' happiness, it has been reported.
In research carried out by kayak.co.uk, 90 per cent of people questioned claimed that an annual foreign vacation is in the top five most significant factors in their overall happiness.
Meanwhile, less than two-thirds of consumers state being in a relationship is one of the most important things to them, in statistics that might be of interest to people with jobs in the travel industry.
Commenting on the figures, Annie Wilson, business development director at the firm, said: "Brits have always been passionate about taking holidays and, as a nation, we've always been much more likely to explore the four corners of the earth than to buy the latest flat screen TV."
She added that there is something "intoxicating" to consumers about being in a foreign country.
The study also indicated 98 per cent of people would reduce spending on luxury items in order to save enough money for their holiday.
Recent research by ebookers.com revealed that over half of Britons think that going on vacation is either very important or entirely necessary.
