Holidays 'are non-negotiable'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs. There continues to be desire among people to go on holidays.
Such is the assertion of Tom Hall, travel editor for Lonely Planet, who reports that Britons are continuing to go on breaks which they have previously purchased.
He said: "I think people are taking holidays that they have already booked. There are signs that the late bookings market is strong; I think people see holidays as a non-negotiable thing."
The travel editor went on to report that as holidaymakers are increasingly looking for value for money on a break they realise that for a cost-effective vacation they must travel outside of the euro zone.
Such news might be of interest to those people with travel agent jobs.
However, Mr Hall claimed that despite a determination to go on main holidays the credit crunch might mean that more people will consider cutting back on going on short breaks.
The editor's comments follow research from the International Air Travel Association which revealed world passenger numbers in June were up by 3.8 per cent from the same month in 2007.
