Holidaymakers 'want to go on breaks beyond comfort zone'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.Britons are increasingly looking to travel to niche destinations, it has been claimed.
Derek Moore, chairman of the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO), states that in recent years there has been a rising trend in those holidaymakers who are taking breaks to destinations which are "beyond their comfort zone".
It was indicated that such consumers want to see "parts of the world which are not well known to tourists".
The AITO chairman went on to report that more people are looking to go to destinations for specific reasons, for example if it is a good place for adventure and activity pursuits or it has been used as a location for a film that they have seen.
Such news might be of potential interest to those with travel jobs.
Mr Moore's comments come after research conducted by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office indicated that just under a fifth (17 per cent) of 18 to 35 year-olds have decided to go on a jet-skiing holiday at the last minute.
