Holidaymakers 'looking to go to Turkey'

So claims the Co-operative Travel in which a recent piece of research revealed that sales for breaks in Turkey over the summer months have increased by some 30 per cent compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, late availability bookings for Majorca have dropped by 13 per cent in news that might be of interest to those with travel agent jobs.
Trevor Davis, director of retail distribution for the Co-operative Travel, claimed that in the past Spain had led the way for those Brits wanting some "cheap summer sun".
"However this year they are finding the high euro and a shortage of availability means the normal late deals aren't available," he said.
Research from the firm also showed that the typical selling price for a break to Turkey stands at £357, in comparison to £465 for Majorca.
In recent days, Roger Allard, chairman of the All Leisure Group, claimed that increases in the cost of fuel and currency exchange difficulties will see the cost of package holidays rise by between ten and 15 per cent.
