Holidaymakers 'choose culture with loved ones ahead of break with mates'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.British tourists are increasingly looking for cultural experiences while on a domestic holiday, it has been reported.
Dave Hodgson, marketing director at Marketing Birmingham, has claimed that instead of the traditional break away with friends, consumers are now "a group of culture buffs" and are more likely to go on holiday with their partner.
His comments come after research by Visitbirmingham.com showed that two-thirds of people questioned reported they want to take in some culture during their time away.
Meanwhile, it was reported that shopping and fine foods are also sought after by tourists.
Travel journalist Russell Amerasekera added that "where it used to be all about going off with your mates and having a weekend away, these days it's about spending quality time with your partner".
