Holiday destinations "opening up"
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.An increasing number of tourism destinations are emerging around the world.
Such is the assertion of Sharon Livingston, editor at Travel Magazine, who states that wealthy travellers are increasingly choosing to holiday in places which traditionally might not be associated with western tourists.
One such location is Beijing, the host of the 2008 Olympic Games, which she reports has shed off its previous image of being unfriendly and is now more welcoming to tourists.
She added that countries in Latin America - such as Honduras and Panama - have taken steps to improve facilities for holidaymakers.
The editor said: "The world is a big place and places have been opening up more."
Ms Livingston's comments may be of interest to those with travel agent jobs.
In addition, she reports there are "places in the Middle East that have become playgrounds for those with disposable incomes", claiming Dubai is proving to be particularly popular.
Earlier this week, Platon Loizou, managing director of Jewel in the Crown, told Travel Weekly that although Turkey is currently a popular tourism destination this may change should the strength of the pound improve.
