Halifax reveals rising popularity of foreign weddings
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.An increasing number of people are looking to get married abroad.
Such is the assertion of Halifax Travel Insurance which reports that the burgeoning trend among celebrities for having a foreign wedding is rubbing off on members of the public
Among those in the limelight to have recently wed overseas is Peaches Geldof - the daughter of Bob - who got married in Las Vegas, not to mention the recent wedding of Wayne Rooney and Coleen McLoughlin in Italy earlier this summer.
Vicky Watson, spokesperson for Halifax Travel Insurance, said: "Destination weddings are increasing in popularity as the likes of Coleen and Wayne and now Peaches and her husband opt for such a thing."
And in news which may interest those with travel agent jobs, it was revealed that the three most sought-after locations to get married are the Caribbean, the Hawaiian island of Maui and the Amalfi Coast in Italy.
Other popular destinations for a foreign wedding were shown to include the French Riviera, Cuba and Napa Valley in the United States.
Earlier this month, Peter Staddon, spokesperson for the British Insurance Brokers Association, reported that foreign weddings are not only seen as a cost-effective option by many couples but can also guarantee their special day will have good weather.
