Foreign weddings 'offer good value'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.Getting married abroad can be a cost-effective option for Britons, it has been reported.
Shona Swain, general manager for long-haul travel at Thomson and First Choice, claimed that although a foreign wedding was once viewed as being expensive, the increasing range of accommodation and marriage venues which are available means that more people should be able to find something which matches their budget.
The manager said: "The type of locations you can marry in abroad offer much better value for money than in the UK."
She went on to claim that as a couple will already be abroad, there is no need for them to fork out money again in order to go on honeymoon.
Ms Swain also reported that those wanting to have their big day abroad often have fewer guests with them, meaning that reception costs are lower.
Comments by the industry expert may be of interest to those with travel agent jobs.
Last month Halifax Travel Insurance reported that the recent rise in popularity among celebrities such as Wayne Rooney, Coleen McLoughlin and Peaches Geldof to have a foreign wedding is rubbing off on ordinary Britons.
