Brits 'will not give up holidays'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.Although the economic downturn will weigh heavily upon consumers they will not give up their holidays, it has been reported.
Malcolm Preston, a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, reveals that at a recent Association of British Travel Agents convention, when people were asked what the first area they would stop spending money on, only ten per cent claimed travel would be their source of cutbacks, TravelMole reports.
He claimed that there are numerous areas people will look to make spending reductions ahead of holidays "which backs up our feeling that the industry is pretty resilient".
Mr Preston went on to report that about 12 per cent of summer 2009 holidays have already been paid.
In addition, it was shown that prices for such breaks are between five and ten per cent higher than they were this year, in news that could be of interest to those with travel jobs.
Furthermore, all-inclusive bookings were said to be on the increase.
Earlier this month, On the Beach revealed that booking for summer 2009 holidays are up on an annual basis by some 60 per cent.
