Brits 'looking for sustainable holidays'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.Holidays that provide an element of sustainability are becoming increasingly popular among UK tourists, it has been reported.
According to Sian Brenchley, a spokesperson for VisitBritain, consumers also have a "renewed enthusiasm" for going on domestic breaks and experiences which are literally on their doorstep.
She said: "There is a growing demand for accommodation and holiday experiences that consider environmental factors and many are finding that farmstay holiday[s] suit this requirement well."
It was also reported that with the recent rise in demand for food which is locally sourced and organic, such breaks "tap into this market perfectly".
The comments made by the VisitBritain representative might be of interest to those people with jobs in the travel industry.
In other news, a recent study by Pricerunner showed that London is the most popular European city for British travellers.
Research from the firm also revealed that Birmingham, Edinburgh and Manchester are sought-after destinations.
