Britons 'carry on camping'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs. While many Britons enjoy having a break in the great outdoors by going on a camping holiday, many lack the correct equipment, according to one sector commentator, a point that those working in the travel industry may wish to offer advice on.
Chris Hilton, head of brand at Eurocamp, said that Eurocamp offered holidaymakers the chance to get back to nature in destinations such as the forests of the UK, without having to bring their own gear.
He added that the green aspects of camping also make it a popular choice with many Britons.
"People are becoming increasingly eco-conscious about their travel and their impact on the environment and are choosing places close to home on that basis," Mr Hilton noted.
Indeed, he concluded that people could find themselves getting the most out of a break if they chose to pitch a tent, as it was more affordable and could allow them to get more out of their leisure time.
The Camping and Caravanning Club recently announced that it saw a 50 per cent rise in occupancy rates on its 109 UK Club Sites during Good Friday, Saturday and Easter Sunday compared to the same period last year.
