Abta reveals millions of Britons 'to jet off this weekend'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.With the summer holiday season starting this weekend millions of Britons are set to go travel abroad, it has been reported.
In figures released by the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta), over two million holidaymakers are due to go away this weekend (July 18th to 21st).
According to Abta, some 460,000 Britons are to depart from Heathrow airport while 260,000 travellers will fly from Gatwick.
Meanwhile, Manchester and Stansted will handle 160,000 and 150,000 passengers respectively.
Such news may be of interest to those seeking jobs in the travel industry.
Findings from Ascent-MI meanwhile - which works with the travel agent association to provide data - reported that the end of June saw booking levels for summer holidays up by one per cent in comparison to the same period in 2007.
A recent study by Lastminute.com reported that an increasing number of consumers are booking last-minute holidays abroad due to the poor weather experienced in Britain.
