Youth travel 'driving tourism industry'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.Young travellers are spending more money than the average tourist.
Such is the assertion of chairman of the British Education Travel Association (BETA) Dick Porter, where - speaking at the House of Commons - he reported younger Britons are also going abroad for longer periods of time.
Meanwhile the typical spend per trip by such travellers has risen by 40 per cent during the last five years, in news that might interest people with travel industry jobs.
The BETA chairman added that young travellers are "arguably the fastest growing part of the tourism industry".
And pointing to research by the World Tourism Organisation, Mr Porter claimed that young travellers are increasingly visiting travel agents when organising a break.
In other news, a recent study carried out by ebookers.com showed that a significant number of Britons are willing to cut back on their day-to-day spending in order to save up enough money to allow them to go on holiday.
Meanwhile, over half of those questioned think that a vacation is necessary or at the least is very important.
