Travel agents 'should focus more on existing customers'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.It is important for those working as travel agents to concentrate on selling more to their existing customers.
Such is the assertion of Simon Pratten, managing director of Transitions, who reports that some 80 per cent of travel agents' sales are from a fifth of their overall client base, Travel Trade Gazette reports.
As such, it was reported that people with travel jobs should look to create new opportunities and services to provide to existing customers.
He said: "The trust and value created by having an ongoing relationship with people is extremely beneficial and you should not constantly feel the need to hunt down new customers."
Furthermore, people operating in the travel industry were advised to constantly consider new methods in which to change and adapt the way they do business and to keep the long-term goals for their organisation in mind.
Meanwhile, Roy Collett, director for Colletts Travel, recently claimed that the failure of XL Leisure could see an increase in the number of people booking their holiday via a travel agent.
