Ski holiday costs increase
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.The cost of ski holidays has risen, it has been reported.
In figures released by tour operator Crystal Ski the typical cost for a winter sports break next season is up by between seven and eight per cent in comparison to last year.
Mathew Prior, managing director of the firm, attributed this to the weakness of the pound against the euro and rises in the cost of fuel.
However, it was stated that increase in costs for ski holidays to the United States are slightly lower than for those to Europe.
Such news could be of interest those with jobs in the travel industry.
He said: "Demand for next year is pretty good. There's no evidence yet of people trading down."
Mr Prior went on to report that as many view skiing as a pastime rather than just a normal break "we expect the ski holiday to remain an unavoidable fixture in the calendar".
The director added that sought-after ski locations for next year are to include Spain's Formigal, Klosters in Switzerland and the Canadian resort Whistler.
Last month, Inghams Travel reported that bookings for ski holidays to Switzerland, France and Austria this season are "well up" compared to last year.
