Service from tour operators to travel agents 'shows signs of improvement'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.Tour operators are offering an improved service to travel agents, a new study shows.
Research carried out by Travel Weekly revealed that in 2007 travel agents waited an average of 13 minutes when making holiday reservations or booking amendments while on the phone to Virgin Holidays, Thomson, Thomas Cook and First Choice.
Now, however, the typical waiting time stands at three minutes.
Such news might be of interest to those with jobs in the travel industry.
Andrew Earle, proprietor at World of Travel, said: "We haven't had any problems recently. The days where direct customers got through before us are over. They have definitely cleaned up their act."
He went on to report that the firm has recently seen an increase in bookings for breaks to the United States, particularly in the over-50s and weddings market.
Earlier this week, managing director at Connoisseur Travel Services Moira Scott claimed that the company currently remains confident about maintaining trading levels through the credit crunch.
