More people 'holidaying together'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.Britons are holidaying in larger numbers, it has been reported.
In a study carried out by Directholidaybookings.co.uk, it was revealed that over a third of households plan on spending their summer break with a group of friends or members of their extended family.
Andrew Gibson, managing director of the firm, said: "This year we've seen a huge demand from group bookings looking for larger holiday homes to share."
He went on to attribute this increase to attempts by consumers to find "more affordable holiday options" during the current period of financial tension.
The firm also revealed that other ways in which UK tourists are looking to reduce the amount of money they spend on their break include renting a holiday home or cottage instead of staying in a hotel, in news that may be of interest to those working in the travel industry.
Earlier this month, John McEwan, chief executive for Advantage Travel Centre, claimed that recent increases in the cost oil may see more Britons choose to holiday closer to home.
