Getting covered
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.Britons who are planning to escape this winter to the slopes to participate in some winter sports have been advised to choose the cover which is most suitable to them.
Kelly Ostler-Coyle, spokesperson for the Association of British Insurers, warned that the medical practices and hospitals that surrounded many ski resorts were often quite expensive, which could prove to be costly if Britons have not secured adequate insurance before they jet off.
In addition, she added that ski and snowboarding equipment was a pricey investment and in the event of an accident, holidaymakers may be able to recover some of the costs should it be broken.
Ms Ostler-Coyle concluded that travellers may consider specialist winter sports cover for their trip, something which those with jobs in travel may advise on.
According to research by esure travel insurance, 65 per cent of holidaymakers would consider shortening their trip to save money, choosing a weekend break or long weekend away rather than a full week.
