Footie fans 'ride the rail'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.UK football fans are likely to travel to Rome for the Champions League final using alternative methods of transport to flying, one sector commentator has claimed, in news which may be of interest to those with jobs in the travel industry.
Indeed, Rail Europe has revealed that Britons are increasingly looking to board a train in order to see their favourite side play.
Amanda Monroe, spokesperson for Rail Europe, said that taking the train was more environmentally-friendly than flying and that it was also a "much nicer" way to travel as it was more relaxing.
"By taking an overnight train, they can arrive at the centre of Rome in the morning of the match and have the whole day to prepare for the match in the evening and you don't have all the transfers from the airport and lost luggage to worry about," she added.
Rail Europe has also recently announced that it has seen an increase in the number of bookings for Rome as football fans secure their seats, even though tickets for the final have yet to be released.
