First Choice Airways and Thomsonfly unveil new brand name
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.Thomsonfly and First Choice Airways have unveiled the new name of their merged airline, it has been revealed.
From May 1st 2008, the company will operate under the single brand Thomson Airways, in news that might be of interest to people seeking jobs in the travel sector.
Such a move, it was reported, will create the third biggest airline in Britain with the announcement following the merger of First Choice Holidays and Tui AG to form Tui Travel UK and Ireland, Travel Trade Gazette reports.
Although the airline will fly under one name, both Thomson and First Choice brands will continue to both operate on high street travel agents and overseas.
Chris Browne, managing director of Thomson Airways, said: "Our aim is to build on the very best from these two award-winning airlines that share a very strong drive to provide a truly exceptional customer experience."
He added that incorporating both airlines under a single name the organisation will control some 65 aircraft flying to more than 80 destinations.
In other news that may interest people seeking jobs in the aviation sector, Tony Hallwood, commercial and aviation development director for Leeds Bradford International Airport, recently claimed that terminals outside of London are set to provide an increasing range of flights to long-haul destinations.
