Brits 'preparing for summer 2009 holiday'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.In spite of the inclement financial climate consumers are determined to go on a summer holiday.
Such is the assertion of On the Beach, where the online travel agent reveals that forward bookings for summer 2009 breaks are up by 60 per cent on a year-on-year basis.
It was also revealed that of those consumers who have already booked their holiday, over 90 per cent are choosing to make payments in installments.
Simon Cooper, chief executive for On the Beach, said: "It's encouraging to see that whilst consumers are not willing to give up on their summer holidays, they are planning well in advance for 2009 holidays and keeping a close eye on their finances."
And in news may be of interest to those with travel agent jobs, popular destinations for next year were shown to include Cyprus, Turkey, Egypt and Malta.
Meanwhile, a recent study by Abbey Credit Cards showed that 15 million Britons are set to go a winter sun holiday.
