Australia and NZ 'offer opportunities for travel agents'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs. There are still opportunities for those with jobs in the travel industry to increase levels of trade despite the worsening economy.
So claims Dagmar Marrocco, senior product manager at Travel 2/4, who reports that travel agents may be able to increase booking levels for breaks in New Zealand and Australia in the months to come due to the emergence of new markets in the region.
It was stated that although Britons are becoming more cautious with how much money they spend on holidays, consumers are willing to put in the time and money for vacations to these countries.
Ms Marrocco told TravelWeekly: "It is a challenging market for Australia and New Zealand, especially over the last few months, but we're up six per cent at the moment.
"The growth has obviously slowed but we're still looking positive."
Her comments come after the first two months of this year saw bookings for New Zealand and Australia be up by 25 and five per cent respectively from the same period in 2007.
Earlier this month Martin Evans, from The Tourism Business, claimed that the Lord of the Rings film trilogy had seen a rise in holidaymakers travelling to New Zealand.
