London Olympics 'will leave a legacy'
For more permanent team manager jobs in the travel industry, visit our latest jobs pages. The 2012 London Olympic Games are likely to leave a tourism legacy for the UK, one sector commentator has claimed, in news that may be welcomed by those looking for permanent team manager jobs in the travel industry.
Robert Wright, managing director of Davies Tanner, said it was likely such a legacy could amount to £3 billion in tourism, with £1 billion of this being business travel related.
"London 2012 is going to be the best Games ever. I can say that with total confidence because I've seen how advanced we are," he enthused.
Mr Wright added that this was because the UK had such a rich heritage teamed with some of the best event organisers in the world.
In March 2009, Boris Johnson announced a £2 million international marketing campaign to boost overseas visitors to London in time for the Olympic Games.
Funded by the London Development Agency, the global campaign will be called Only in London and focus on the unique experiences, sights and attractions that make the city a popular destination for tourists.
