Rise in business travel noted by Virgin Atlantic
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.Virgin Atlantic has transported an increasing number of business travellers, it has been reported.
In figures released by the firm, the number of business passengers flying on the carrier's premium class route was up by 22 per cent during its 2007-08 financial year.
And in news that could be of interest to those seeking business travel jobs, the overall number of Virgin passengers during this period of time had increased by 7.6 per cent to stand at 5.7 million.
Steve Ridgway, chief executive of Virgin Atlantic, said: "We have diversified our route network, focused on providing the best product in Upper Class, Premium Economy and Economy, hedged our fuel purchasing and built up a strong cash position."
However, he did point out that rises in oil prices and overall weakening in consumer demand could have a negative impact on the sector as a whole.
In other news a recent study by Bibby Financial Services showed that eight out of ten financial services firms take the environment into account with regards to their corporate travel policies.
