Portman Travel reports profit increase
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.Portman Travel has seen its annual profits rise, it has emerged.
Figures released by the travel management company have resulted in a 29 per cent increase in pre-tax profits to stand at £6.4 million in its financial year ending December 31st 2007.
Meanwhile, client transactions were indicated as seeing a 28 per cent rise as a result of a six per cent higher average sales value, Business Travel World reports.
Furthermore, the acquisition of rival firm P&O Travel in 2006 was put forward as an attributing factor to Portman's growth.

In a statement the firm reported: "Overall sales have increased by £78 million - 36 per cent - during 2007.
"The acquisition of P&O delivered an additional £42 million [in] sales whilst the core business experienced a growth of 16 per cent year-on-year."
In April, it was revealed that the firm had won a £1.2 million business travel contract with media group Emap to handle train and air transportation and hotel accommodation requirements.
