Business travel levels 'staying afloat'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.There was a five per cent increase in travel bookings in May compared with the same month last year, it has been revealed.
Figures from the Guild of Travel Management Companies (GTMC) site also indicated an one per cent decrease in air travel and a four per cent decline in car hire transactions.
But according to the GTMC, an organisation which handles about 80 per cent of the UK's corporate travel business there are two growth areas in the business travel industry.
In news that may be of interest to those with business travel jobs, hotel bookings have gone up by 22 per cent and train travel has seen a 13 per cent increase.
Philip Carlisle, chief executive of GTMC, said while growth was flattening there were no signs of a critical reduction overall in the industry.
Their figures show an overall increase of seven per cent in transaction levels during the first three months of 2008.
