Bath Travel signs technology deal with Travelport
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.Business travel company the Bath Travel Group has signed a new contract with technology firm Travelport, it has emerged.
As such, those with travel jobs at the firm will use Travelport's latest Galileo desktop (GDS) reservation product across all areas of the business.
Under the terms of its previous deal the Bournemouth-based agency only used Travelport's system for its corporate travel division.
Now Bath Travel's air fares, leisure-retail and medical repatriation services are all to benefit, in news that might be of interest to those looking for business travel jobs.
Stephen Bath, joint group managing director for the firm, said: "Our original agreement with Galileo had expired and so we decided to re-tender the GDS contract for the whole Bath Travel Group."
He added that the group is continuing to expand at a rapid pace through both organic growth and acquisitions.
In other news, Caroline Strachan, chair of the Institute of Travel Managers, recently claimed that people working in the business travel sector need to make better use of technology if they are to keep up with their peers within the leisure travel industry.
