Business travellers 'considering green issues'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.Environmental considerations are starting to be taken into account by business travellers, it has been suggested.
In research carried out by Barclaycard Business, it was revealed that just over a third (36 per cent) of business travellers consider green issues when making their transport choices, for instance choosing to travel by train instead of by car.
Meanwhile, those in the public sector were revealed to be about twice as likely as private sector workers to have a travel policy which incorporates environmental concerns.
However, it was revealed that just one per cent of businesspeople surveyed stated that they had adhered to their firm's environmental policy and cut down on the amount they traveled over the course of last year.
Denise Leleux, director of commercial cards for Barclaycard Business, said: "One of the major issues arising is a lack of consensus amongst employers and employees about who should be taking responsibility and how."
Such news may be of interest to those seeking business travel jobs.
In other news, a recent American Express study showed that 85 per cent of businesses questioned reported that working with a travel management company can help them to reduce their indirect management costs.
