Mexico 'in need of tourism development'
Despite its already significant position in the global tourism market, Mexico needs to be active in attracting tourists over the long term, an industry expert has stated.Louise Oram, communications and public relations manager for the World Travel and Tourism Council, reported that in the face of increasingly popular holiday destinations across the world, the country should take the time to invest in its tourism infrastructure.
Over the course of this year, it is reported that travel and tourism will account for 14 per cent of Mexico's annual gross domestic product.
She said: "With new emerging markets growing rapidly and undertaking massive tourism-related investment programmes, Mexico must focus on its long-term development in order to keep up with the competition of these new tourism destinations."
Such news might be of interest to those seeking jobs within the travel and tourism industry.
Her comments come after research by Oxford Analytica showed that international visitors to the city have risen steadily by 15 years.
