Travel agents 'provide support to people wanting individual holidays'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.Travel agents will still be sought-after by those people planning a break, an industry expert has stated.
According to Kayte Williams, holidays manager for Travelsupermarket.com, an increasing number of Britons are becoming more confident in booking a package holiday over the internet as it is "straightforward to put together".
However, for those consumers who are organising the various elements to their break separately - which could include areas such as transport and accommodation - she reported they may still seek the guidance and advice that travel agents can provide.
Ms Williams reported that "I think the travel agents will still have a market for more tailor-made holidays; where people need that extra level of support".
She went on to assert that should consumers be unhappy making a number of transactions online they are likely to look towards travel agents for "extra reassurance".
Speaking earlier this month, Paul Riches, sales and marketing director for Youtravel.com, stated that holidaymakers are either looking to go on self-catering vacations or all-inclusive breaks as they look to manage their money effectively during the continued difficulties in the financial markets.
