Cruise holidays have 'greater appeal'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.Cruise holidays appeal to a wide variety of tourists, it has been suggested.
According to Trevor Davis, spokesperson for The Co-operative Travel, holidaymakers of differing backgrounds are increasingly choosing to go on cruises due to the wide range of activities that they offer.
He said: "If you're a couple you go to the restaurants and the events that appeal to you and if you're a family you make use of the facilities that are there for you."
Mr Davis added that although selling cruise holidays once was "the preserve of specialist retailers" those with travel jobs at high-street tour operators and travel agents are now able to effectively target such breaks towards families.
His comments come after the firm reveled cruise holiday bookings from families have risen by 31 per cent over the course of this year.
Families now account for a tenth of all such tourists, although Mr Davis stated that couples make up the "core audience" of cruise holidaymakers.
Earlier this month, a spokesperson for the Association of Independent Tour Operators stated that self-catering holidays are becoming more popular with Britons.
