Self-catering holidays 'more popular'
Travel industry news brought to you by C & M Recruitment, specialists in business travel jobs.Self-catering holidays are becoming increasingly popular among Britons, it has been suggested.
According to a spokesperson for the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO) such breaks are being more sought-after as they offer holidaymakers a ”semblance of independence”.
It was stated that these holidays mean that tourists have more choice in what they do while away, whether it is eating out or cooking a meal indoors.
This was claimed to be an especially attractive option for those going on holiday as a family.
The representative said: “People with younger children are starting to travel as well and self-catering overseas is certainly an attractive option for them.“
In addition, the AITO spokesperson also claimed that adventure holidays are also becoming popular as people look to do activates such as trekking and diving.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson from First Choice stated earlier this month that there is still a demand for package holidays to destinations traditionally popular with Britons such as Cyprus, Spain and Egypt.
