Travelodge announces recruitment drive

A hotel chain is offering eighteen-year-olds the chance to jump the queue into management and avoid accumulating student debt.

Travelodge is seeking candidates for its fast-track route into management, which provides an ideal alternative to university for young people up and down the country.

It is recruiting 120 apprentices to join its Junior Management Programme (known as JuMP) in 2012, something which will provide a big boost to travel recruitment over the coming 12 months.

The scheme gives those studying for their A-levels the chance to continue their education while obtaining invaluable industry experience and earning a salary.

The programme prepares them to become managers by the age of 21.

Travelodge will appoint 45 candidates over the Christmas period, ready to start in April. Recruitment for the remaining 75 places will take place during autumn 2012.

Michelle Luxford, Travelodge HR director, said: "The fast-track management programme provides a real job, with the opportunity of on-the-job training throughout the business, combined with further education and the opportunity to earn up to £30,000."
