Travel company's sales take off

A travel firm has enjoyed the best sales day in its 16-year history in news which brings a new-year boost to the UK travel industry.

Travel Counsellors managing director Steve Byrne hailed Friday 13 as a lucky day, saying: "Over two thousand individual customers chose to book their holiday or arrange their corporate travel trip with their personal travel counsellor."

Although he recognised pricing was important, he believed that other factors also had an impact upon the success enjoyed by the firm on the day.

"In some cases, it will have been because of price and whilst we do ensure that we offer choices to suit all budgets, price will not have been the main reason," he said.

Byrne also hailed the level of expertise of those working in travel jobs at the firm - and also highlighted the fact that a pleasant manner can go a long way to encouraging customers.
